To whom it may concern

Perseverce and optimism are the qualities that I pride myself on. At the age of 12 I had my first encounter with the guitar and it didn’t take me long to realize that I wanted to become a musician.

I started taking guitar lessons at the Voltaj Academy, a private classes school in my home town where I met my teacher, Daniel Ilca. He taught me the fundamentals of guitar and each new concept helped me develop my passion even more. As time passed by, I realized that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life; playing guitar and making music. The feeling I get from playing with other musicians is one I can’t get enough of and I desire to do it at a higher level with the greatest excellence.

Therefore I decided to switch schools in the second year of highschool and enrolled myself in the music school. I passed the audition and I got accepted at the Sigismund Toduta Music High School in Cluj-Napoca at the age of 15. And there I was given the opportunity  to learn from various proffesors of classical guitar and to enhance my musical knowledge of theory and various concepts.

These 3 years have formed me both practically and theoretically. During all this time, I have studier the masterpieces of the greatest classical composers,  while at Voltaj Academy I was studying the solos of Mateus Asato and Eric Clapton, with the metronom and the score.

With my guitar teacher being passionate about blues, he showed me all kinds of new songs and that side of music started to attract me. I managed to expand my playing vocabulary by listening to great musician and bands: Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Joe Pass, Jim Hall and many others. After I studied all of these artists I decided that I wanted to be a professional guitar player.

I started performing In front of 300 people on different stages in Romania, then I had the chance to appear on TV and Radio Cluj. After a while I started to be interested in jazz and it fascinated me. The music school Codart’s in the Netherlands is the only place where I can see myself growing and learning music. I started preparing for the audition with the help of Alex Man, a jazz guitar professor at the Conservatory of Bucharest, one of the greatest guitar players in Romania. From December 2020 I started to focus more on learning to play and understanding jazz.

I am coachable, very hard-working and I am ready to run extra miles to achive my goals and to face the challanges that lie ahead. It would be a real honor for me to learn from the best professors and to be part of Codarts projects, hoping that I will be given the opportunity to study at your University.

Thank you for taking my application into consideration!

Sincerely,
Marco Baciu
